2011 Oscars Blog

5:30pm Yikes, its the start of the show and this video intro with James and Ann is painfully unfunny, even with Alec Baldwin. Come on guys! Not a way to start the show.
5:35pm BTTF reference! Doesn't really fit but I'll take it.
5:42pm Wow the stage introduction for the first award is actually beautiful. They made real good use of the entire stage this year.
5:45pm Inception wins for Best Cinematography!
5:52pm Man, poor guy can barely talk but gotta give respect.
5:53pm Alright! Award for best Supporting Actress! Fingers crossed that its Melissa Leo!
5:55pm Oh man this is getting unbearable, just read the award!
5:57pm Aw man gotta love Melissa Leo, she knows how to brighten up a room with her F-bombs.
6:01pm One of my favorite set of awards! Best animated short & best animated film.
6:03pm Mila Kunis is gorgeous as always in her lavender gown.
6:06pm Don't get me wrong, I liked Toy Story 3. However, How To Train Your Dragon was my personal favorite by far.
6:13pm Josh Brolin & Javier Bardem. Shhh!, my boyfriends are talking! And they were dancing, how wonderful. Update: Apparently they kissed each other as well. Aw, I missed it!
6:15pm Yes! Alan Sorkin is god. How dare they start the background music! A truly intelligent and talented man is speaking.
6:18pm Wow. That was a little unexpected. Many thought Christopher Nolan would win Original Screenplay. However this man is the oldest to win this award so I give him props anyway. Congrats!
6:26pm Man, Helen Mirren is rockin' such a wonderful dress with that body. God bless her.
6:29pm Ok time for Best Supporting Actor. Christian Bale or Jeffory Rush. Who is it gonna be??
6:32pm Christian Bale takes the award. Not surprising since I love the man but his speeches tend to drag a bit with a little dash of crazy.
6:40pm Looks like Hugh Jackman & Nicole Kidman are introducing Best Score? Loving the live orchestra btw.
6:44pm Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross win. Not too surprising but I was really torn between all the nominees. I have Social Network, Inception, & How to Train Your Dragon in my Ipod.
6:47pm Inception wins for Best Sound Mixing.
6:49pm Inception wins for Best Sound Editing.
6:54pm Marisa needs to burn that dress when the show is over!
6:55pm Congratulations, NERDS!!!!
6:57pm The Wolfman was garbage but that man has been in the makeup effects business for years doing GREAT work. Well deserved.
6:59pm Alice in Wonderland for Best Costume Design really? That movie wasn't even good. That's two wins for Alice in Wonderland. Yuck.
7:03pm Shut up Randy Newman! Just forced my boyfriend to change the channel just to save my ears from bleeding. On a side note: Listen to the ending credits of the movie Parenthood and tell me it's not the exact same melody as Toy Story's "You Got A Friend in Me".
7:06pm Ahh, Mandy Moore & that guy from "Chuck" sing a Tangled song. Much better.
7:15pm Best speech so far. Short & funny. Definitely checking out "God of Love".
7:18pm Haha. That auto-tune song montage was hilarious, especially the Twilight part. Just proves that auto-tuning make ANYONE a decent singer. *cough* Ke$ha *cough*
7:15pm Best Documentary goes to Inside Job. Heard great things about this movie so I have to check it out. Was hoping that Exit Through the Gift Shop would win though, only so I could see how Banksy would pull off his speech with his disguise.
7:28pm Nice to see Billy Crystal again. Such a funny guy. Wish he would host the Oscars at least one more time. Or just take over hosting duties for the rest of the night tonight. Please.
7:31pm That was ballsy Jude, bringing up RDJ's past like that. Of course it was all apart of the bit and RDJ had a good comeback as always.
7:32pm Inception wins for Best Visual Effects. As long as Alice in Wonderland doesn't win another award then all is right in the world.
7:35pm Social Network wins another award.
7:46pm Nope. Refuse to believe the Academy gave one of its awards to the worst Best Song nominee.
7:55pm Hi Celine Dion. Bye Celine Dion. Great dress though.
7:56pm My boyfriend: "Halle Barry, I've been wanting to have sex with you since I was eight"
8:03pm And Best Director goes to ..... The King's Speech. That was a toss up between all the nominees really.
8:05pm "Moral of the story is, Listen to your Mother!" Love it.
8:17pm Yay Natalie wins Best Actress. That makes the second time a pregnant lady has won an Academy Award. Random fact I know.
8:25pm Colin Firth wins Best Actor. Very well deserved indeed sir.
8:35pm Awwwww. I wanted Social Network to win Best Picture.
8:39pm And its all topped off with a SUPER cheesy children choir version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", but it was nice I guess.
8:40pm Did like that the stage opens up for the Oscar winners and Emerald City in the background. Nice.
8:42pm Well that's all folks. King's Speech is the big winner this year while the Social Network kinda got snubbed there for Best Director, but it at least won for Best Adapted Screenplay.
